CREMONA SUFFERS NARROW DEFEAT
Massimo Cremona reached the Danish Gran Prix of Table Football final in Odenese but suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Eric Verhagen. The final turned out a balance encounter and the game could have gone either way. After a goalless first half Verhagen took the lead after the break with Cremona equalizing soon after but the Englishman grab the winning goal three minutes from time.In the group stages Cremona beat German Michael Stolzenburg 2-0, and Danish pair Ibrahim Bayoumi 4-1 and Thyge Enevoldsen 3-0.In the last 16, he then beat easily Bjarke Larsen 5-0 while in the quarter-final he put off Rasmus Lund 4-0.The semi final was a tough encounter for the Maltese player, as he had to show character against Anders Buhl Hansen after finding himself a goal down to overturn the result 2-1 and a place in the final.Italian Serie A League for ClubsMeanwhile in mid February, Cremona was also present for the Italian league for Clubs with Perugia held in Pisa. By the end of the first round after nine league matches, Perugia is currently second in the table with 20pts. One point ahead is league leaders Pisa with 21pts, current European Winners, while 3rd place are Reggiana with 19 pts.Having played only four games in the league, an unexpected defeat against Pisa Luigi Pochesci 0-1 caused Cremona a place in the following matches.“We are six great players in the team, five of us have World Cup Medals, and no other club can boost such thing. Only four can play in the team and I am part of the team and respect all decision made by the team selector. We win and loose as a group together.“It motivates me to work harder for the second round on the 26th and 27th of April. There are still nine games left and I am confident that we can overpass Pisa, we have already beaten them in the Coppa Italia final”World RankingsIn the World Ranking list published by the International Federation – FISTF – for the month of February, Cremona kept his number three position in the ranking with 2268.70pts.First place is unreachable Englishman Verhagen with 4732.50pts followed by Spanish Flores 2845.13pt. Forth is Italy Bertelli with 2194pts and Fifth place is occupied by Englishman Bennett with 1998.23pt.Next weekend Cremona together with his club Perugia will be taking part in the Major of Mons in Belgium.
